Why we use 'Cognitor' for our homepage and e-mail address:
Dr. Georg Gautschi who founded our law practice was deeply attached to the Latin language. He even communicated orally and in writing with various colleagues in Latin.
In fact Dr. Gautschi was certainly a 'Cognitor', a person of excellent education and knowledge in Latin.
The word Cognitor is derived from the Latin verb cognoscere, which has a variety of meanings. In particular: to know, to realise, to notice, to learn, to experience, to investigate, to appear at the bar. The Cognitor in other words is a person of broad know-how, etc. .... and a person appearing at the bar - all vital qualities in our profession as attorneys.

Moreover, we follow a tradition: when Dr. Gautschi founded our law practice on October 1, 1932, he had Cognitor registered as telegram address. So using the same name as e-mail address really takes us back to the roots.
